Help me give my students a classroom where they can take charge of their own learning. The stool offers flexible seating during independent work time and also a place for me to sit read aloud my students daily.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have returned to being a full time teacher after being away for 8 years. My goal is for my students to be able to take charge of their own learning and allowing me the freedom of time to plan and teach them.
I believe in the power of public school.
However, schools need much more support than what we're given. I often have to supplement with my own money.
The items in my wish list include ways for students to take more ownership in their learning and responsibilities.
Stool and Sensory Mats-Students can choose flexible seating for how they will best learn. The stool also provides a place for me to read aloud daily to them.
I also have listed some technology support to offer softer lighting throughout the room so students can feel a sense of calm while learning. A remote clicker allows me to move throughout the room while teaching to make sure students are gaining full understanding during a lesson.
Mailboxes will be used as a way to help students access their Chromebooks quickly and to also put them away quickly. Chromebooks are just one tool I use to access learning but they can be hinderance when the cords are constantly jumbled.
I also have a highly requested book series to provide more of a selection to my classroom library.
