This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I plan to incorporate mindfulness and yoga into my interventions with students. These materials can help students regulate their nervous systems so that they can return to school with more capacity to take on whatever life is throwing at them. As a yoga teacher, I plan on using the yoga mats to instruct optional classes during the school day. The comfy chairs will help make my office more approachable for students who need a break and want a trusted adult to listen to them. Many students don't have access to fresh water, so having the water bottles handy helps protect them from dehydration. The CBT workbook can help youth reframe stressful situations, and give them coping strategies.
