Help me give my students literature storage, a rug, a bean bag chair, books, and other resources for an environment that is welcoming, empowering, and creates a classroom culture of openness.
Every student is special and every student is unique. This is why classrooms and teachers must be equipped with the materials to watch these wonderful students grow into their successful selves. Classroom environment and culture is incredibly important. Who can learn in a 4x4 cement block? No one! That is why I want to decorate my classroom to awaken the creativeness in my students. Specific pieces in my project that are crucial are the rug, bean bag, and book shelf. At this moment, my room is bare with only individual desk seating. These items will be used to make my classroom library corner. This will not only be a station students can choose from during that time, but it will be a calming space for students when feeling overwhelmed. I also have included many inclusive books. My school is hyperdiverse, that means my students need to be represented in my classroom library. However, SEL or diverse books are the hardest to come by. I want to have the tools to create a classroom that students are excited about.
