My Project

I am looking to provide incentives for my 7th and 8th graders to help keep them engaged and motivated for the remainder of the school year. I will use these items as incentives for encouraging positive classroom behavior and academic success.

Many of my students come from low income households where the priority is simply providing what is needed.

Being able to provide little "extras" for my students is extremely motivating for them and gives them an opportunity to obtain something that they want rather than need.

Additionally, providing incentives such as coloring, scratch art, and books gives them an opportunity to take a calming break in the classroom when and if it is needed. It is important to me that my students understand that while the focus is on academics, my classroom is also a safe place where they can work through things in their own way.
