Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These supplies such as the current event magazines, art materials, and cleanup supplies, will help my classroom by giving students the opportunity to work together and create a more inclusive classroom as well as an awareness of what is happening in the world outside of school. This project will help provide students with items that they can use to accomplish academic goals and create illustrative representations of their studies. Students will be able to have more of an understanding of current events and create art based on these events.

This project will help my students create artwork to go along with their favorite geographical current event as they present it to the class and then display their work.

This project will help build a welcoming classroom by supplying kids with art supplies such as watercolors and paints as Time For Kids and Scholastic News magazines will continue to enhance the print-rich and visually stimulating artistic classroom that I strive to create.

Because students need to read "kid-friendly" news, Time For Kids and Scholastic News will give them that resource to discover current events which standard reused textbooks can't do. For many students, further enrichment and research into topics studied can initiate student interest-based projects. However, not all of my Title I (and first-generation US citizen) students are natural writers and can be intimidated when sharing their findings. With art materials, I will be able to reach those students who can represent their study of current events/locations, by illustrative means on canvas. This will give them an alternative means of completing an otherwise difficult task, as well as exposing other students to artistic interpretations of current events, instead of just a written report. This will open all students' eyes, to the diverse ways we learn in our classroom.
