Mrs. Willingham’s Tools for Kindergarten Fine Motor Skills

Help me give my students tools like a grocery set to use for a shopping center, a paint set, a magnetic building set, and a visual timer for fine motor skills as well as resources for our class.

My Project

As a teacher, I can never have too many tools to incorporate a child’s learning skills, such as fine motor, especially in Kindergarten. Fine motor skills are the ability to make movements using the small muscles in our hands and wrists. We rely on these skills to do key tasks in school, at work, and in everyday life. These small movements come so naturally to most people that we usually don't think about them. Most of the items on my DonorsChoose project are for fine motor skills. Items such as scoopers, tweezers, droppers, Play-Doh tools, paint, flair pens, Do A Dot Art Markers, highlighters, paintbrushes, toy puzzles, and play grocery items. Magna Tiles to make a road is a great resource to be used with the car mag tiles I have. Magnetic cubes and Playstix construction can be used for several fine motor skills, such as centers, morning tub play, free choice, & indoor recess. A visual timer is a great way to provide structure to my student’s routine. It sets boundaries for them. I may use a visual timer to assist with completing a task that may be undesired. Clipboards are something I like to use when doing a whole group assignment. Instead of sending the students back to their seats they can stay on the carpet and have something hard to write on. The Duck Light would be used for quiet time or as a way for my students to know not to approach me for questions because I may be working with someone else or doing assessments. The multi-headphone splitters would be great for an iPad center! This allows up to 5 students to listen and share the same audiobook! I greatly appreciate anything donated to my sweet kindergarten class!
