My students are hardworking, fun, and a joy to have in class. We like to make learning fun! Over the past year and a half, the pandemic has greatly impacted my students' learning.
They are working hard to gain the skills they missed during the shut down and some didn't have the tech resources at home that they needed for distance learning.
We love to incorporate hands on experiences and technology into our classroom, and with your help, we can add to these experiences!
My Project
These activities and materials will allow students to learn and reinforce skills in a fun and engaging way. When we are learning each reading standard, we can use a game to practice this skill.
For example, when we learn how to find theme in a story, the comprehension reading game that practices theme and meets standard RL.5.2.
This entire game pack will help students learn and reinforce standards: RL5.1, RL.5.2, RL5.3.
The nonfiction game would allow for the following standards to be addressed: RI.5.1, RI.5.2, RI5.3, and RI.5.8. Using these games to practice these standards would allow for students to fill in gaps for standards that might have been missed during the shut down.
The math activities would allow for me to practice decimals after the lesson and reinforce skills. 5.NBT.7, as well as the word problem game. This game would also meet other standards using different operations.
The Social Emotional activity will help students develop a growth mindset. We use Dreambox and RAZ kids for intervention programs for my students.
The headsets will allow students to hear directions, as well as hear the stories and information if they are reading below grade level. These intervention programs are pertinent in filling in students' academic gaps.
Scholastic News provides current events to students, while allowing them to meet the standards of finding Main Idea and providing evidence to support it-RI5.2.
