I teach a group of thirty-eight, charismatic, energetic, and hard working students. My classroom consists of an extremely diverse group of students coming from all walks of life. Our school is on 100% free breakfast & lunch. My students range from various income levels but a large majority are classified as low-income. My students all love reading and working towards rewards. My students enjoy working as class, in groups, and independently. My students have struggled with forming strong relationships with classmates due to being apart for so long.
My Project
Creating a classroom where students feel safe, heard, and wanted is imperative to their success as learners. This means as an educator I must go beyond teaching a lesson and closing a book. I need to find ways to make the learning come to life and support their needs.
Providing students with the ability to interact and engage with their learning content is critical to increasing comprehension.
Making learning fun and giving students the opportunity to take the classroom novel and immerse themselves into it makes the process more engaging.
Many of my students have not had a normal school year in over two years. Providing a sense of normalcy is crucial to ensuring they are developing a positive relationship with education and overall learning in general.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
