This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting books which will build the print-rich classroom that I am striving to create as a first year teacher. I want my classroom library to be a place that my students love to visit. We have a big rug in my classroom that we spend a lot of our day. We are always reading and doing work with our clipboards.

My students absolutely love to read.

I took on a retired teachers classroom library. While it is a good selection, the books are torn and have been very loved! I have chosen these books with diversity, SEL, and STEM in mind. Every book in my classroom library is loved and any new books would be so greatly appreciated. Many of my students do not have access to books at home, I am planning on slowly giving them the used books as I fill my library with new handpicked choices.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that fit their reading level and interests. I tell my second graders all the time that the best way to become a better reader is to keep reading everyday. This project will enrich our learning experiences be so appreciated by everyone.
