I teach in a Title 1 school in FL where it is considered a low socio economic environment. The students are of mixed nationalities such as African American, Haitian- Creole, and Puerto Rican. We have received an influx of students due to the Hurricane Irma.
Our primary resource for increased student learning involves technology .
In teaching 2nd grade it provides me with an understanding of the demands of the students for 3rd grade. They need more resources to be successful.
My Project
The added laptop is a key component to ensuring that more of the students have the resources necessary to receive the full potential of our iReady instructional program within the classroom and the availability for home checkout.
The students do not have access to computers at home so we must make them available in school and for home access.
The iReady program is a fully digital program that provides students with developmental instruction in reading and math. The students must be provided with the necessary technological tools to be successful within the program. The more that they use the program the more they will learn.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
