Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help my 4th graders build a strong foundation in math by using LEGO bricks to explore fractions, geometry, area, and more—hands-on learning that makes math meaningful and fun!
My Students:
My 4th grade students are bright, curious learners who thrive when they can engage with math in creative and hands-on ways. Many of them learn best through movement and building, and I love seeing the lightbulb moments when they connect a tough concept to something they can see and touch. My classroom is a vibrant community in Florida where we celebrate every “aha!” moment and cheer each other on through challenges.
My Project:
I’m asking for LEGO bricks and activity kits that will allow my students to build their math thinking—literally! With these bricks, we can model:
Fractions and equivalent parts
Area and perimeter
Multiplication and arrays
Angles and geometry
Problem-solving and spatial reasoning
LEGO bricks aren’t just for play—they are powerful math tools that help students visualize concepts and develop a deeper understanding. We’ll use them in small groups, centers, and challenge activities. They also support students with different learning styles and needs, especially those who struggle with abstract numbers.
Why This Project Matters:
Traditional worksheets can only go so far. LEGO math brings learning to life and makes it stick. Students will be engaged, motivated, and empowered to take risks in math. This project will turn our classroom into a Math Makerspace, where every student can become a confident problem-solver.
With your help, we can transform math time into one of the most exciting parts of our day. You’re not just donating bricks—you’re helping build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
