My students need a listening center so they can read along with books, as one strategy, to access texts that would otherwise be too challenging, along with exciting ways to access other academic subjects.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Many students are the same in one way: 90+ % live on or below the poverty level. With 32 children in our class, we are challenged to provide all of them with materials they need to compete with other students in less impoverished areas, and be players in a field ripe with technology and world awareness.
My students are curious, eager learners from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, many of whom are living below the poverty level.
These children love learning: they work hard every day and overcome obstacles that would leave an adult intimidated!
My Project
Some of my students are more than three years behind their peers! We are struggling to find ways to raise their reading levels so they have a way to hold their own in a challenging, demanding world. Reading and math basics are within their grasp with the proper tools. One of those tools is a listening center; they can read along with books that are read to them to enhance, strengthen, and raise their reading levels. They will use the other items to strengthen their math skills, with fun ways to engage them and keep them motivated to learn. Thank you in advance!
