This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have high energy and enjoy friendly competition. Due to COVID-19, a lot of their fun activities have been put on hold, so I want to bring that back in to the classroom. Providing opportunities for games in the classroom is a great way to do that. I also want to provide a fun, yet functional space for my students to feel successful. Organization for their data folders, stools to sit at small group with me, extra calculators in case their family cannot provide them. All of these will make for a more serviceable learning environment.

Project Mrs McRae's Mega Math Games is about my hope to boost morale and promote excitement about math in the classroom.

Let's make learning fun again. I want to allow students more freedom to choose a math game that interests them while I work with small groups of students. Stacking blocks are a great way to make something like a review or worksheet more interesting! Students can compete against each other while also practicing a new math skill. Card games, like the Integer Operations and Linear Relationships, promote practice and builds fluency. I know my students would be so excited to play these games in class together. I have seen math stations work, and they work best when engagement is high. What better to promote engagement than games?! I hope you can help me fulfill this plan to make learning fun!
