My Students

My second grade students come to school excited everyday. Their excitement shows when they come and ask me what we are learning today.

I am so proud of my students.

They come to school everyday despite the many challenges they face, including hunger, ill parents, and being homeless. Their tenacity makes me want to try my hardest to educate them to the best of my ability. I know that I am creating a foundation to build the rest of their lives on. My school receives the free breakfast and lunch program. We are able to offer this to all students. What I love about my school is that we are a close knit community. The teachers and parents work together to create a warm and caring environment for our students.

My Project

I would like to use the iPad as a center in my classroom. Their are so many great apps that can be downloaded that will help students practice reading and math skills in a fun yet educational way. I want my students to find learning exciting and not boring. It turns school work into a reward! Some of these apps include: Sentence Builder, Numbers League, Tower Math, as well as free library books.

The level of engagement that it will provide to my students will be epic!

All students enjoy the use of technology. With the seamless integration of technology in society, not being afforded the simple use of a tablet or computer creates another hurdle in an already uphill struggle that most with means would never even comprehend. In my classroom, they will be able to use it on a daily basis. Using this technology places my students closer to their counterparts in other school districts.
