This is my first year teaching after obtaining my Masters degree in May. I will have the pleasure of working with sixth grade students to navigate math and science.
Learning and discovery of new ideas includes background research, so we need to outfit a class library with resources.
I would love to have some things in the classroom, to get my students excited about these two subjects. I need your help to make it happen.
My Project
My 6th grade math/science students need diverse books in our class library, will you help us?
One never stops learning, and books can encourage a student to try a new skill, travel, advocate and more.
Students will interact with these books in two ways, I will read some aloud to them in the early period during social emotional circle check in and some can take to read on their own, if they've finished an assignment/quiz early while they await the rest of the class. And some can use them to check out to help build more knowledge when working on a math or science project.
Let's get them the books they need. As adults we never stop learning and we want to encourage our scholars to build this habit early in their lives.
I will be encouraging my students to create learning goals and a part of that will be to challenge them to create a reading goal to strive for.
