My Students

My students are amazing! These friends were in Kindergarten when the pandemic shut everything down. In August many of them re-entered the school for the first time since March 2020. They have missed foundational academic and social-emotional skills, but they are working incredibly hard to get caught up and close those foundational gaps.

All of my students would benefit greatly from alternative seating.

I currently only have one wobble stool that I am borrowing from the guidance office. That stool is really helping one student, but I need more options for the rest of these friends.

My Project

There has been a great deal of research that supports the benefits of flexible seating options in the classroom. This alternative seating option helps to keep students' minds engaged.

The constant ball movement increases blood flow to the brain and releases good chemicals what help wake the brain.

Both of these things help optimize attention and concentration. Active seating also improves performance by providing a much-needed outlet for excess energy. This controlled movement also helps to alleviate anxiety, stress, and boredom. Finally, using a weighted ball as a flexible seating option helps to build core strength and a healthy posture.
