Help me give my students material for my therapy room. Clay and kinetic sand is used for self-regulation and as tools for children to tell their stories, using the play families that look like theirs.
My name is Emmanuelle Giumelli, I have been working as a school counselor for the last 20 years. These last three years my caseload is 3 times what it was before Covid. The amount of Pre-K and K students I meet with in counseling for anxiety, and inability to regulate each day has increased by 200%. My room is a place for students to feel accepted, and safe to learn skills to help them have more of the kind of day they want to have. My project is to offer children materials and tools to work in the sand tray, families that look like them, and manipulatives that will help them regulate as they talk about what they notice in their mind and bodies.
