This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a 4th and 6th grade literacy teacher in an inner city Title 1 school. My students love flexible seating and “reading around the room.” They find a quiet place to get lost in a good book. Studies show the more students read the more successful they will be. I use an incentive system with a prize box that students love to choose out of weekly! We also work on building our social emotional competencies in our classroom community through interactive games during indoor recess instead of relying on technology as entertainment. They love building and playing together.
