I work at a Title I school in Gastonia, NC. Most of my students come from low-income households so it is hard for their families to provide school supplies. Many of the supplies provided so far this school year have been items that were donated or bought myself. Even though outside factors affect many of my students, it does not affect their desire to grow and exceed.
Student use headphones frequently in our classroom to work on iReady Reading Pathways, IXL, Choice Boards, Learning Plans and more.
These lessons are individualized to each student so they can progress to the next lesson. Many of these lessons require listening to a video in order to teach them about a topic where they may need extra practice. These over-the-ear headphones will allow my students to fill gaps in their learning so they can succeed.
Earbud headphones were provided at the beginning of the year but many of them broke due to daily use or were lost during transitions to other classes. I am hoping to provide my students with a class set of over-the-ear headphones so they can continue to excel in reading. These headphones will remain in my classroom and will not follow the students to each class. Each block will have a bin to keep their headphones in with each pair labeled for individual students.
