My Project

My 5th grade students will be entering a school that is brand new to them. Please help me create a warm inviting learning environment that sparks students curiosity about the world around them!

The handheld microscopes will allow my students to explore our 400 acres campus to learn about the environment around them.

A class set of microscopes will allow each unique student to explore their own interests and gain worldly perspectives.

The CO2 sensor will be used to asses the levels of CO2 in our on campus lake throughout the year to determine the health of the ecosystem. The CO2 levels of the classroom can also be tested throughout the day to determine if levels increase as more students filter through a classroom.

The class set of whiteboards will be used in various ways. Students will take charge of their own learning and will be able to showcase what they know. This will help me as a teacher to assess each student's understanding and catch misconceptions early in a lesson. Erasable white boards help to show students that their learning is not stagnant. We will be able to create science models, which can be modified and improved as students gather more data.
