Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At my school we serve a very underprivileged group of individuals. These young ladies and gentlemen come from broken homes with little money (school is 100% free lunch). They have very little to look forward to and that is something that I try to change within the walls of my classroom. I believe that through your help my room can become a refuge for those student who see education as there way out of this downward spiral. In addition I want my room to be a place where people who don't like education can eventually start to turn themselves around before they go to high school.

My Project

A good majority of these supplies are to complete our end of the quarter project during out civil rights era. The students will be learning about the advancements of civil rights along with the changing culture of the 1960's and as a culminating activity. I invite the entire 8th grade to make tie dye shirts to go along with this lesson. So not only am I improving my students lives but also working on the other 300 students from around the school. Since I am doing the entire school this is why I am focusing so much of my potential resources towards this one project with dyes and gloves. The adaptors are to make my students electronics more compatible with my projector. By having adaptors my student can show more concrete examples of the work they are doing on the big screen making them feel like a part of the educational experience. The remainder (most of the other technology) is for ongoing activities in the classroom along with replacing some items that have either worn out or have been stolen. I believe that the students stole these items out of desperation and I need to replace them in order to keep my classroom running as efficiently as possible.
