My Project
I work for a title one school. I teach ELA, social studies and reading. Two major things we have accomplished so far this school year. First, we have all grown as people and students. What that means is we have learned to respect each other, to get long as a group and support each other instead of taking opportunities to tear each other down. How this carries over to our reading together? We read out loud in class and everyone can feel confident to have their voice heard without criticism or ridicule. Instead of joking if someone stumbles over a word or new vocabulary, we support each other and work through it. Our second major achievement is that we have become a room full of students who love to read. I would really like to build a library in class so the kids can have their choice of something to read that interests them. Right now, I have some donated books which I really appreciate but .... I don't think the kids at my school want to read "Sarah , plain and tall". While this piece of writing has its place, my kids want something different. If you are able to assist in this effort, my kids and I would appreciate it . Lets keep them reading. Readers of the world , unite!!
