Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are enrolling to be a part of our first ever robotics after school club. Help to make this a reality for them.

My students live in an urban, low-income city, comprised largely of immigrant families.

Many of my students speak a language other than English at home. Despite the challenges that they face, the students in my school are consistently eager to learn and enthusiastic about new and exciting learning opportunities. The majority of my students do not have experience with robotics, and unfortunately due to budget cuts this school year, limited supplies and opportunities have been made available. My students are innovators that are ready to develop strategies for problem solving to be able to create their very own robot, work in partnerships, and show that they are team players. Through a robotics club, students will build a sense of camaraderie amongst their teammates. My school is lacking opportunities and technologies to meet students' needs. With your help, just imagine the faces of these children discovering, through robotics, the world of technology!

My Project

Did you see the robot land on Mars? My students did! Help them to continue pursuing their interest in learning how to create their own robots. Using LEGOMindstorm Robot kits, students will learn fundamental engineering, and related problem-solving techniques through the completion of various robotic challenges. Students will also explore and discuss the abilities of their robots and its included sensors. Students will have opportunities to break down challenges, design robots, collaborate, plan, and describe their robots in small and large groups, as well as analyze how other robots work. Through fun and interesting challenges, students will learn how to think like an engineer, and come up with solutions to problems. Students will video tape their robot projects and have opportunities to take home their own robot that they create, with your help. With technology like this, my students will have phenomenal resources that are engaging, inspiring and exciting!

Donating to this project will help pilot my school's first ever, robotics club.

Help students by providing an outlet for them to pursue their interests. Give students not only this opportunity, but exposure to technology they would otherwise not be familiar with. Your generosity will not go unnoticed (no matter how big or small your efforts may be). Help make a difference!
