My Project
In an effort to develop and foster a lifelong love of literature, we are on a mission to expose our students to as many books as possible. This not only reinforces vital reading skills like story elements, and comprehension, but it also shows children that reading is fun!
Our 2nd grade is anxious to go "beyond the textbook" and enhance their learning and deep love of literature by diving into a novel study of a whimsical classic: Mr. Popper's Penguins.
Our study will focus on bringing story elements to life!
Our student population is a diverse mix of socioeconomic statuses and for some, the reading books they have access to within the classroom, and school libraries, are they only books available to them. We want to help provide more access to books to support student learning, and create a deep appreciation for literature.
I am also asking for some penguin STEM activities to do at the end of the unit as well as penguin stickers and bookmarks..
