My Students
I am a business/technology teacher at Bonanza Jr/Sr High school, we are a rural school that serves approximately 230 students in the secondary building. Many of our students travel a great distance to our school some are on the bus as long as one and a half hours to get to school. Resources are old but improving, our students need opportunities to resources to be afforded the opportunities of larger school districts, which is difficult as I don't have a set budget as a department yearly.
Our student population is a high poverty demographic, over 70% are eligible for free and reduced lunch.
Despite these challenges, many of our students excel in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), and 5 out of our chapter have qualified to compete at the national level this year. They are young and inspired student leaders who are now seeing the world they would have never experienced otherwise.
My Project
I require students to read if they finish early, and I would like to have books available that they can utilize in class. They will have access to books recommended at leadership and professional development for students so that they can expand knowledge!
We are looking to improve the access of current materials that will impact students in a positive manner!
I have selected these titles based on recommendations from various sources, FBLA national leadership conference, Forbes recommendations for young business people, and teacher recommendation.
