This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a seventh-grade ELA special educator, an advisor, and I also co-facilitate the GSSA (gender sexuality student alliance) at HPCMS. I am entering my second year at the school. This is part four of my fundraising campaign. I have continuously filled my classroom library with a diverse and amazing selection of books for my students. I am super excited to grow my classroom library for my kids. My advisory group of students which will be around 15 students will take part in a book club regularly throughout the year to help improve their reading, writing, and creativity. My ELA students and GSSA students will also have access to these amazing books throughout the year for independent reading! My goal this year is to get as many students I have the privilege to interact with excited about reading! Reading is so important! It helps them not only academically but helps them see the world in different ways and helps them be seen and feel connected!
My Project
This is my 4th DonorsChoose Project over the last year. I have been selecting a diverse selection of books to increase my classroom library to get my students excited about reading.
These books with help my students improve their reading, writing, and creativity.
These books will open up their minds to new worlds and imagination. These diverse books will give them more choices and it will help them be seen in the characters they read about!
