This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

During the pandemic, we let many of our guitars go home with the students where they could learn to play at home while virtually in classrooms learning their materials. Since we have come back to school, our guitars that were returned came in needing maintenance and minor repair.

Our guitar students are eager to learn, but many of our guitars are unplayable due to needing necessary up-keep and cleaning.

With the acquisition of these materials, I will be able to show my students how to clean and repair a guitar so we can keep playing our classroom guitars for years to come.

Below is a list of the materials needed and how the guitar classroom will benefit from the item.

1. Fender Tuners - Our students need guitars in TUNE! The tuners help students maintain intonation throughout our lessons and performances.

2. Ernie Ball Acoustic Bass Strings - Replacement strings for our acoustic bass guitars

3. Ernie Ball Electric Bass Strings - Replacement strings for our electric basses

4. Ernie Ball Acoustic Guitar Strings - Replacement strings for our acoustic guitars

5. Ernie Ball Electric Guitar Strings - Replacement strings for our electric guitars.

6. Hurricane guitar mat and neck rests - Provides a workspace for our students to provide maintenance on our guitars.

7. Jim Dunlop Tortex Picks - Light picks for students with difficulties fingerpicking and general strumming.

8. Dunlop system 65 cleaning kit - has guitar cleaner and polishes for the students to use while repairing guitars.

9. & 10. Guitar capos - Gives students a different concept of playing guitar, but also is used to check fret buzzing and string action.

11. & 12. Music nomad and D'Dario string cleaner - helps us maintain string to keep fresh as long as possible.
