This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember reading independently in school? You got the opportunity to go over to the classroom library and choose a novel to read. You probably choose a novel that dealt with a topic you enjoyed. Our classroom library is so sparse my students do not receive this opportunity.
I have twenty-five students that have become avid readers over the past few months.
They come in every morning excited and tell me about the book they read the night before They also hand me graphic organizers or summaries of the novels they have read, for extra credit.
My Project
My students need an updated classroom library. These resources that we would receive would enhance our instructional time. They all deal with topics that we cover in class. This would allow the students to develop a higher order of thinking. An example of this is in the Percy Jackson Novels they speak about Mythology. This donation will give my students a better understanding and stir deeper thought.
This project is so important because it will help all of my students maintain their love of reading.
This Classroom library will also maintain a higher level of application of thought.
