Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students will take the great game of CLUE to the next level by studying forensics. I teach Advanced Biology and first year Biology. My students range from 9th to 12th graders. My students live in a high-need area of California.

One of the most interesting labs that we do during the year is the DNA Fingerprinting Gel Electrophoresis Lab that introduces students to Genetics. The students use real DNA and enzymes and they get to solve a mystery. This year my supply fund has been cut by 45% and this motivating, yet expensive lab might be cut without your help.

We need sterile tips for pipetting very small amounts of liquid (as little as 2µL) and a white light box to illuminate the DNA bands in the gel that we will be creating.

This donation will not only help my AP Biology students who are taking a college course in high school, but will also motivate my first year Biology students to take higher level science courses in high school and college.
