Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The thing I love the most about my students is their openness and their ability to show empathy and compassion towards both students and adults. A majority of the students I teach have very strong emotional needs due past traumas or unstable home lives, so, for many of my students, my classroom is one of their few safe spaces.
I want to create a Calming Corner with the listed materials in order to give my students a safe spot where they can cool down and emotionally self-regulate.
Currently the only option my students have is sitting outside in the hall with a timer. With the creation of a Calming Corner, my students can have a place to take breaks within the confines of the classroom.
