Mr. A.'s Algebra Fun Class

My students need an iPad in my classroom to show them what they can do with it in a math class. They can be exposed to technology to help them expand their minds.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Where do I want my students to be at the end of the school year? I want them to be able to see a situation and not just have one solution, but as many as they can. This gives them the best possible chance at different opportunities that will be given to them throughout their life.

I live in a rural area and a close community.

It is a common place for me to run into several students( past and present) when I go on errands. Our school has a lot of pride and we show it. My students are the same way. There are no clicks or groups, everyone is in the same group. Since we live in a small town the students are often involved in all of the same activities and clubs.

My Project

Since I am a math teacher, I am trying to get my students to understand where and how they can apply what they are learning in my classroom with the outside world. I want them to be able to see how they can use this tool to help them solve problems they already can in a different way. Tools such as this iPad can be used to look at learning through a new point of view. Gone are the days of textbooks and paper. We can use videos, cameras, interactive applications and other things to present the same material in different ways for all students to understand. I recently started making quizzes for my students online through a third party website that allows them to use their smart phone to answer. I have a lot of positive feedback from students and administration. This device will let me get to the other students who are unable to participate due to financial reasons.

Donating to this project will allow them to not only learn in my classroom, but they will also get a chance to see what it is like for someone to give back to the community.

And as a teacher that is one thing that I want my students to be able to do. Give back to the community in a positive way.
