Moving Toward a Thinking Classroom:

Help me give my students access to a thinking classroom. Students collaborate on math tasks on whiteboards daily. Expo markers, whiteboards, and an iPad will support conferring with students and data collection.

My Project

During the years impacted by the pandemic, students missed many opportunities to work together and collaborate. Last summer, I read Peter Liljedahl's book "Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics." His research inspired me to try something new in my classroom this year. Students have been working collaboratively at vertical whiteboards on mathematical tasks, and it has truly changed how students interact with the math content. These supplies (Expo markers, whiteboards, & an iPad) will help me continue these practices and support my ability to confer with students and collect data during work time.
