My students need notebooks for interactive notebooks, pencils to write, and teacher reference books to supplement our daily lessons with hands on ideas and activities.
My students are from an inner-city section of Cleveland, known for unsafe streets. We focus on making safety one of our top concerns at school because a feeling of safety allows you to focus on learning while at school.
My students are fifth and sixth graders just trying to succeed in education with obstacles that we are trying to overcome to match our counterparts in more affluent areas.
I would like my students to be able to learn modern uses for technology such as Google Docs, online storage, and coding to be ready for future careers.
My Project
I have been teaching for 17 years, the past 5 in a departmentalized team teaching 4th and 5th-grade math and science. Next year I will be moving up a grade level with my students to teach 5th and 6th-grade math and science.
My students and I need 6th-grade resources to help us supplement our daily lessons, with all of us moving to the 6th grade together.
The Math books are great for weekly practice. The science daily practice is great for reviewing all science topics. Interactive notebooks are a fantastic way to help bring abstract math topics to a concrete level of understanding. The differentiated lesson books will give an opportunity to reach all types of learners in the Science class.
Notebooks and pencils are supplies that need to be replenished frequently. The name tags are a great resource to reinforce the basic math skills needed to comprehend our higher level math skills.
It would be great to have these resources at the beginning of the school year to establish routines.
