Moving Kids

My students need something to help them move but stay focused at the same time. The wobble chair can help them stay on task while being able to get the extra energy that they have out.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. They like music and love to dance around in room. They are very squirmy, jumpy, and hyper. They like to move and love lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single parent households, or by grandparents and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". One thing they can always look forward to in Ms. D's class is that there will always be someone who loves them and is looking out for what's best for them.

My Project

Active kids! Just two words to describe the students in my classroom. My students like to move, groove, wiggle, and shake. Now, that is not always a good thing when it comes to classroom instruction. With the constant distraction of needing to get up and move, my students sometimes fall behind because they are need to release extra energy. The wobble chairs can really help my students release that extra energy while being a minimal distraction to the other students around them. If there is one thing that my students always know, is that they can do anything that they set their mind to and with the help of the wobble chairs, my students can set their minds to doing so much more!
