This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to come to school to learn. When they walk through the door of our classroom, they know they are in a safe, caring place and are filled with excitement at what the new day brings. The students come from many different cultural backgrounds and I love that the students learn from me and I learn from them too.
Our school is predominately low socioeconomic status with greater than 85% of the students on free and reduced lunch.
Our school is an amazing place with dedicated teachers and administration supporting our students on their learning journey to success.
My Project
By donating to this project, you will be giving the students flexible seating options where they will choose where they work best. My First Graders are very active and it’s hard for them to sit in an uncomfortable seat at a desk and stay focused for very long. Now, students will have the opportunity to learn while sitting on a stability ball or wobble stool at a table, sitting on a wobble cushion at a low table, sitting in a traditional student chair/desk with a theraband attached for movement of a student’s feet, or sitting in a backpatter seat low to the floor.
Flexible seating that is student friendly and physically stimulating leads to more engaged students which increases student achievement.
So, I’m excited to see how engaged my students will be and how it will motivate them to work better with a partner in a small group or individually! My students will be moving into success with flexible seating!
