I teach Physical Education to over 300 students. My students come from diverse cultural backgrounds, many have physical or learning disabilities, some are advanced, and many need extra help. They range from very enthusiastic with a lot of movement experience to those who are reticent about PE or have little to no fitness experience. The past two COVID years have caused a huge setback in my students' fitness levels, skill acquisition and confidence in physical activities. As a whole they are enthusiastic, inquisitive and like to be challenged in their movement environment.
My students love to be actively involved in their own learning, to be engaged and challenged, to meet high standards and set personal goals.
They love working individually but also work in learning teams or with partners.
I need the tools to provide the best learning environment for them so I can provide an inclusive, equitable, collaborative environment. I seek to create a classroom where students are involved in their own learning, have their SEL needs met and can achieve their highest level of learning. Our motto is, "We're a team and a family!"
My Project
Students in physical education need access to technology to fully maximize their health, wellness and fitness potential. As middle schoolers, students need new resources and tools to keep them fully engaged and motivated to set high and meaningful health and fitness goals.
The use of a MacBook Air laptop will give my students access to new resources that will further and challenge their fitness journey.
We will utilize a video delay tool for self-assessment, graphing tools to observe progress and will create a student-created wellness newsletter, to name a few.
