Moving & Grooving In Music Class

My Students

I teach in Wichita, KS. There are approximately 920 students and it is the largest K-8 school in the Wichita district. I will be teaching K-5 general music as well as exploratory classes for 7th and 8th grade students.

I am so excited to work with the students, parents, and staff to bring them the love and joy of music.

Our school is in the top 1% of the most diverse schools in the state. Our school has 62% minority enrollment with 28% Asian, 12% Hispanic, and 11% Black. Our students eligible for free and reduced lunch is at 40%. I want to give my new students the best opportunities to learn.

My Project

I love teaching music lessons that are centered around movement. Kids should be able to get their wiggles out in a fun way during music class while learning about music concepts. I would love to get racket balls, yoga pose cards, bean, ribbon wands, as well as several books to help get kids moving and grooving during music.

Students will be bouncing balls to classical music, breathing like a bunny, and striking a Yoga pose.

I am so excited to teach music concepts to my students through these movement activities. This will also help my students by giving them a chance to focus their mind on music while practicing music concepts.
