This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you recall your old gym class? Was it all push-ups, jumping jacks, and running laps? Did you enjoy them? I didn't! I want to make physical education fun and rewarding for my students. I want them to learn how important it is for them to keep their bodies active and healthy.

My students live in the inner-city.

They live in the most modest of ways, some with just the bare minimum. They attend a Title 1 school in South Central, Los Angeles. They all qualify for free or reduced federal funded lunches. Many spend countless hours at school weekly, from 6 am to 6 pm. Yet, they come to school with hopes and aspirations to learn and become the best students they can be. My students are amazing, sweet, and giving.

My Project

My students need jump ropes, fluff balls, flag football belts,journals and a portable speaker with Apple dock to enhance their physical education class. A class set of jump ropes will engage my students in various cardiovascular exercises. With the use of jump ropes my students will be able to get their heart rate going in a fun and engaging way. In addition I am requesting writing journals. My students will use the journals to reflect on their eating habits. I want them to learn the importance of eating healthy. I want them to learn that what they put into their bodies can greatly affect their health on a positive or negative way.

Please help me instill the importance of physical education in my students.

I want my students to learn how important keeping their body active is not only for good health now, but also in the future. I want my students to be physically active for the rest of their lives.
