Our Title I Houston elementary school is made up of a diverse population; it's why I love teaching here. Many of our students speak another language, and bring cultural diversity to our student body. Students learn as much from each other as they do from their teachers.
I am fortunate to work with Gifted and Talented first graders that crave knowledge and ask endless questions.
I love planning instructional activities that use critical thinking skills to challenge my students, and I want them to use both their minds and bodies to learn.
My Project
These stools will help my first graders concentrate while getting to move during instructional time. This year, I am trying out a flexible seating model in the classroom, where students get to choose where they sit.
Students always choose the kinds of seating they like, but most often, they choose seating options that allow them to move.
With 28 first graders, we don't have enough movement options for everyone. We want to work on getting more!
The Hokki Movement Stools would give us more movement options in the classroom, instead of having the kids take turns with the limited options available. Thank you!
