My Project

My high schoolers are carrying adult-sized stress in their teenage bodies. Between AP deadlines, after-school jobs, and the daily swirl of social pressures, they often walk into my classroom with tight shoulders and a distracted look. They’ve told me—straight up—that they need a healthy way to “hit reset” during the day so they can focus on learning instead of just surviving the week.

That’s why we’re transforming a corner of the gym into a pop-up Wellness Studio.

A portable sound system will allow student leaders to cue up calming playlists or upbeat cardio tracks and guide their peers through movement breaks without shouting over the noise of the hallway. Thick mats paired with resistance bands will cushion joints and invite everyone to join in, whether they’re stretching, practicing mindfulness, or burning off nervous energy. Supportive yoga blocks ensure that athletes and first-time practitioners alike can try each pose safely and experience small victories right away.

When students learn how to breathe through a rigid plank or steady their balance in a new pose, they’re also rehearsing the same coping skills that lower anxiety before a test or cool them down after a conflict. With your help, we’ll provide hundreds of teens with a daily space to move, breathe, and emerge stronger—in body and mind—than when they arrived.
