This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It is often said that within the first ten seconds of meeting someone or arriving some place, one automatically forms an opinion. Do you remember your school days? Upon entering your classroom, or even the classroom of your child, what were your first thoughts and impressions? Was it an inviting, welcoming community filled with learning and growth? As a first year teacher this 2019-2020 school year, I strive to create a community of learners and leaders - a community that is welcoming, accepting, respectful, supportive, challenging, and diverse. A community where everyone belongs and is filled with incredibly limitless potential for every student to learn and grow not only as students, but as individuals in every aspect.
In my classroom, every student is unique and is recognized for his and her individuality; as a result, it is essential to me that every students needs are met to help them blossom and achieve their goals and dreams.
As an ICT special education teacher, learning certain skills and concepts does not come naturally to my students, and have the proper tools and resources to support their learning is essential as we are all lifelong learners.
My Project
In any classroom there are many needs to be met for each student. As a special education teacher, there are additional needs to be met that students cannot control without some additional strategies, assistance and resources. Think about it. How long are you able to sit still for? How long can something hold your attention for?
Help my students be able to expand their attention span and enable them to have a classroom that promotes movement in our learning!
With flexible seating, students have the ability to change their seats, and bounce while working. With rubberbands on their chairs, students can move their feet without banging into other desks or causing a distraction to themselves or others. Together, we can move, learn and grow!
