Movement in Math

Help me give my students an opportunity to stand up, move around, and collaborate during math lessons. I have been working to get students up and moving during my lessons and white boards have been a huge part!

My Project

I love watching my students engage thoughtfully and collaboratively in math lessons! By allowing students to get up and work at white boards it allows them to stand during the school day, learn the skills of collaboration, and be willing to learn from their mistakes! I have noticed my students are more willing to engage with math they are unfamiliar with when their work doesn’t feel so permanent. Doing the work at whiteboards with whiteboard markers allows them to easily change their work, collaborate with their peers, and glance around how other students are approaching their work.

Doing math at whiteboards offers numerous benefits for students, including increased engagement, improved collaboration, and enhanced understanding of mathematical concepts.
