Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students range is age from 6 to 22. All face challenges in motor movement. It is critical that we help level the playing field by providing them access to the right type of equipment. Brighter and larger balls, larger nets and shorter hoops. This specialized equipment will ensure success!
My students are in special education.
They range in age from 6 years old to 22 years old. Some are in regular classrooms with some motor and coordination limitations. Many of the students are in moderate to severe classrooms and they face multiply disabilities.
My Project
These resources will provide my students with the right type of equipment, and they will be encouraged to "try it". Then, once they are willing to take the risk to try it, they will soon be practicing and developing their skills. There are so many personal, physical and academic benefits to students learning to move their bodies!
My distinct pleasure is to introduce my students to as many movement activities as possible (tennis, basketball, swimming, croquet, walking).
My goal is that one of these activities will catch their interest and that they keep it up long after they leave the school district. I would love nothing more than my students learning to love any movement activity and making it their life long habit!
