This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 5th graders and I are learning to self-regulate and manage our emotions after two years of pandemics and schooling online. Many of my amazing students have endured a lot these past two years and it can be extremely difficult for them to take care of themselves during the academic stress of a school day.
My class has weekly social-emotional lessons where we learn breathing techniques, gratitude, mindfulness, and self-regulation.
However, all of this is a tricky thing to learn! We need help to gather tools such as sensory socks, fidgets, calm-down corner supplies, and movement tools so that we can take care of ourselves while still learning every day!
