Why I Love My 25 Stuntin' Scholars & How This Rug Will Support Their Minds and Moods.

I have the privilege of teaching 25 amazing fifth graders at a Title I school in Manassas, VA.

Each one of my students brings their own strengths, stories, and struggles to our classroom every day. Many of them carry emotional and academic challenges that go far beyond the school walls—but they show up, they try, and they inspire me daily with their resilience.

I call them my “stuntin’ scholars” because they’re bold, brilliant, and full of potential—they just need the right environment to thrive. That’s why I’m passionate about creating a space that doesn’t just support academic growth, but emotional well-being too.

This rug will play a key role in that vision. It will give my students a welcoming place to gather, stretch, move, and breathe—a safe zone where they can reset their minds and regulate their emotions. Whether it’s a morning mindfulness routine, a mid-day brain break, or a closing circle after a tough day, this space will help them reconnect with their bodies and lift their moods through movement.

In a world where many of my students are expected to “sit still and be quiet,” this rug gives them permission to be active, expressive, and present. It’s more than just a rug—it’s a foundation for movement, mental health, and meaningful connection.
