My Project
My 2nd graders are energetic, curious, and full of potential—but sitting still for long periods can be a challenge. I want to bring more movement, team-based play, and mindful brain breaks into our daily routine to help students stay focused, manage stress, and build a love for healthy habits.
This project will equip our classroom with fitness-based and social-emotional tools to support the whole child.
The Twister game and inflatable sports balls will help us introduce fun and inclusive ways to move our bodies during indoor recess and brain breaks. With a variety of soft foam balls, students can safely play partner or small-group games that build coordination and teamwork. These physical outlets are key for boosting mood and focus—especially during Minnesota winters when outdoor play is limited.
The Grab and Go Brain Break kit and conversation chips will guide purposeful movement breaks and reflective discussions that help regulate emotions and promote communication. The sequin sensory wall will offer a calming, tactile experience for students who need to self-regulate. Finally, the Scholastic Sticky Situation cards will allow us to practice social problem-solving and emotional awareness in a light, discussion-based way.
Our students are building not only academic skills but also habits that support lifelong mental and physical health. These tools will make a difference by helping students channel their energy in positive ways and develop confidence, cooperation, and self-awareness.
