My Project
Immersing students in hands-on experiences is key to my classroom. My students are innovative and creative. The students come from diverse backgrounds and economic statuses. They learn best when they are exposed to hands-on experiences when they can apply their knowledge to real-life situations.
An opportunity, such as using real-life experiences within and outside of the classroom can help support my students’ social and emotional learning as well as become life-long learners.
Every day, the students put forth a tremendous amount of effort into growing and developing strong behavior skills as well as social-emotional. These skills will help them to problem solve, show empathy, and regulate their emotions and abilities in healthy ways.
My classroom needs replacement supplies for tangible incentives and motivation to help my students try their best, stay focus, and enjoy learning. I have introduced my students to the world of Desk Pets. Students will have individual tasks and goals to earn desk pets (little animal erasers), environments, blankets, food and hobbies (music, sports, etc...). These animal erasers and "environments/homes" will represent something to strive for and set personal goals. The more each child strives for their academic and behavior goals, the more desk pet objects they will receive.
These behavior and academic desk pet classroom management programs will also help build each child's social and emotional learning.
