Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
No one works for free, so why should our students? Yes, their reward for school is an education, graduating, learning, etc. But many of those things are long-term and hard for our students to envision. Our students also come with a mindset that instant gratification is needed many times to keep them going. When our students are focused, engaged, on task, just having a great day, etc. we want to show them that we see them and reinforce them positively. Something as simple as a blow pop goes a long way. This small candy snack does not cause any mess, doesn't interrupt their working, and is a sought-after treat. This simple treat also has a magical way of getting our reluctant and/or less-than-willing students to begin working when they see their peers being reinforced for being on task/ working! It's a win-win!!
