This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a fabulous group of hardworking scholars at a large urban school in Southern California. I have 26 active, curious learners. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and socioeconomic levels, and the one thing that unites them is their respect for one another, collaboration, and a desire to create. They come to school each day prepared to work hard, learn, problem solve, and face new challenges. They are kind, funny, and inquisitive. They love to propose ideas, suggestions, and problem solve through hands-on investigations. I feel privileged to work with such an amazing group of students.
My Project
I believe my job is to provide engaging academics, a positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness. Schools play a large role in teaching the next generation how to be successful members of society, therefore I believe it is my job to make sure that the learning environment is one that helps students thrive. Its important that a classroom be set up in a way that promotes creativity and a positive learning environment. Flexible seating is essential in today's classrooms. Flexible seating options support sensory needs, improve focus, and can provide more movement in the classroom. Flexible learning environments can accommodate individual learning differences and interaction between students that fosters their academics. Currently my scholars have limited choices for flexible seating so I would like to change that by providing more flexible seating options
