Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school population has changed so much in the past few years. We serve free or reduced-price lunch to over 70% of our population. We have seen an increase of incoming families that have immigrated with very few resources. Our school community relies more than ever on schools to be able to provide resources and materials to all students despite all the budget cuts we have faced.
My Project
Despite my students missing their first year in school as Kinder students they are working and trying their very best each day. I am firm believer in positive re enforcement. I have seen how focusing on the positive vs the negative motivates students to keep trying. We acknowledge and welcome mistakes. I teach them that mistakes help us grow as learners and individuals. By providing prizes for them for trying their best and reaching set goals will motivate them to continue doing their personal best. Students will select prizes from the treasure box and set new goals.
With the gift card from Teachers Pay Teachers we will be able to purchase suplemental worksheets that will expand and provide additional resources for our Social Studies and Social Emotional curriculum.
